Changing our thought pattern

Each of us, if we are honest, have had thoughts that seem to just sort of 'hang around'. And, if we entertain those thoughts, we will find ourselves doing or saying things that is very unlike us. And, sometimes those things get us in trouble.

As Christians, we need to change our thought life. God's Word says His 'thoughts are not our thoughts ,and 'our ways are not His ways' (ISA 55:8) We should be going to the Word to see what our thoughts should be. Several passages give us the remedy for changing our thought pattern. Hebrews 4:12 tells us that the 'Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than a two-edged sword'. It goes on to say that is is 'a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart'. This is the spiritural side of man. When we have the Holy Spirit within us, He gives us the power to change things. But we need to follow the Word.

Hearing the Word is not enough. We need to be doers of the Word. James 1:22 tells us that being hearers only and not doers of the Word we are deceiving our own selves. The Word teaches us that the Word falls among thorns or on stoney ground (with those who are hearers only) and produces no fruit. And, also the enemy will try and deceive you in thinking that you are fine as long as you sit in church and listen to the preacher and never open your Bible to learn for yourselves.

We need to train our thoughts and get inline with the Word. We need to study the Word, 'meditate on it day and night' (Joshua 1:8). And, if we will let the Holy Spirit lead, guide, and direct our lives daily, our thoughts will begin to change. And, if we ask the Lord, He will let us know what area we need to change in our lives in order for our thoughts to change.

Your thought life is the most important part of your spiritual training. And, if the enemy has a hold on your mind and heart, then you will not change. You have to rely on the Holy Spirit and the Word to help you change your thought patterns. As you grow in the Word, you will soon find yourself thinking new thoughts, healthy thoughts that will make you see things in a different light. And, you will find yourself meditating on the Word more often. Remember, 'greater is HE that is in you than he that is in the world'. (I John 4:4).

yes it is so important that we control our thoughts and not allow Satan to enter our thoughts and take control... because we will follow whom ever is controlling out thoughts be it God or it is important that we fill our minds and hearts with God...
thanks for this post... it made me think...

Satan is the 'angel of light' and it is so easy for him to get into your life, if you aren't fully turned on to God and let him lead your life.
