DAILY KOS hit a new low!

Apparently, Daily Kos thinks anything goes when a person becomes a candidate for office, especially a woman. In this case, it's John McCain's choice for vice-president, Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska. Palin had a son born in April who has Down Syndrome. They knew this through tests before the baby was born. They refused to abort the child although the doctors advised them to do so. I applaud her for her convictions! Every child is precious in the sight of God and that of the parents.

But, then you have Daily Kos which makes the birth of this child their business. They are advocating that perhaps she didn't give birth to this child, but it's that of one of her teenage daughters. They are saying that she faked her pregnancy and didn't look pregnant in a 6 months photograph. Well, let me tell you something, Daily Kos! I was one of those women who didn't show much, either! With my second child, my husband's mother told him that he'd be bringing me back home because I wasn't more than 7 months. Well, I had my daughter 1 hour and 15 minutes after arriving at the hospital! I think this is going a little bit beyond respectable reporting! Accusing them of lying about this baby is a very low blow! And, it's not only damaging to the family, but to her daughters. It is accusing them of promiscuity.

I learned about their accusations when a friend sent me an article on Newsbusters.

These are just a few of the over-the-top posts on DailyKos concerning the lies that Palin faked her pregnancy. This is the sort of garbage we see everyday from the haters and rumormongers on extremist leftist sites like Kos and the Democratic Underground, even Huffington Post, for that matter.

Wireless Communication

"Prayer is the free wireless communication."

I just saw that on a church sign this morning. And, how true the statement is. Prayer has been available forever. There has never been a charge. Wireless communication does not come cheap. First, you have to pay for wireless hookup. And then you have to have different things to help you go wireless with your computers like a router. Your machines have to be wireless ready, too, or you have to buy a wireless card to put in your machine. My laptop happened to be ready for wireless, so there was no extra cost besides having the router to connect all our computers together. I did buy me a wireless mouse to use rather than using the touch pad on my laptop. So that was another expense. There are many types of wireless communication devices, but they all cost money.

Do you take advantage of that wireless communication between you and God as much as you should? Too many times we let other things get in the way of our communication with Him. Yet, we find lots of time to do other things in our life such as computing. I have to say I am guilty. I do read lots of prayer requests on forums I participate in or prayer requests that are in emails. Then I pray over them then. But that’s not really taking time out to have a heart to heart with the Father. He really would like us to give him our undivided attention every day, not just a few seconds to pray for someone else. He wants a private talk with us and we should ‘meet’ Him in prayer every day. The price is free and the rewards outstanding!

A look at Obama

I haven’t written much about the presidential candidates here on the blog. But, after listening to parts of a replay of the meeting at Rick Warren’s Saddleback church yesterday, I decided it was time to take a look at Obama.

Some of his answers really bothered me. But none were as scary as his answer to an abortion query by Rick Warren.

Asked at what point a baby gets “human rights,” Obama, who strongly supports abortion rights, said: “… whether you’re looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity … is above my pay grade.”
He always sidesteps questions he doesn’t want to answer. This time around, he had no teleprompter to tell him what the answer should be since they didn’t have the questions beforehand.

When I did a little reading, I found out something else about Obama. When he was a state legislator in Illinois, he voted against a bill that would legally protect premature infants who were born alive.
Average Americans, many of whom hold complicated views on the issue of abortion, may wonder why such a bill would even be necessary in the first place. Once a child is born, she becomes an independent human being who's entitled to the same rights and legal protections afforded to all citizens, right? Wrong, said State Senator Obama. Earlier this decade, the Born Alive Infant Protection Act was introduced in the Illinois state legislature after a Chicago area nurse named Jill Stanek blew the whistle on a practice she personally witnessed at her hospital. Babies who managed to survive late term abortions were being abandoned in soiled linen closets and left to die.
Obama is trying to get the evangelical voters on his side. But, to me, it doesn’t matter how much he tries to peddle his Christianity in the campaign. He is still not in tune with the Word.
Luke 18:20, "Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother."
To me, abortion is killing of a viable human being, a baby whose breath comes from God. A baby in the womb is alive and nourished by the mother. And when you decide to terminate that child, you are committing murder.

Awards

My good friend, Cathy, over at Melodies and Hymnsongs, has given me two awards. Thanks so much, Cathy, for your sweet friendship.

Paul Newman dying with lung cancer

I just learned yesterday that Paul Newman has lung cancer. He just finished his chemotherapy and has gone home. From what I have read in the news, he only has weeks to live. And he had requested to be at home with his family when he passes away.

He has given his race car with the number '82' to his best friend. And he has made provisions for his son to take over his salad dressing business where all the proceeds go to charities.

Newman will join lots of the great actors who have gone before him such as Clark Gable, Henry Fonda, John Wayne, Cary Grant, and Jimmy Stewart. He seems to be a very personable man. I have always admired him as well as his acting ability. And it helped that he was a handsome man! :)

Kim Komando on Digital drugs

When we think of kids using drugs, we automatically think of those that they buy illegally or perhaps steal parents' prescription drugs. But, now, that is not always the case.

Kim Komando has written an article in her newsletter about Digital drugs. These are those for which your child only needs a music player and headphones.

But Web sites are targeting your children with so-called digital drugs. These are audio files designed to induce drug-like effects.

These digital drugs are alleged to alter your mental state. And you will be surprised at the extent of drugs that can be bought through these digital drugs. To get a better understanding of how these things can harm your child, visit Kim Komando and read the entire article. For me, I did not know there was such a thing until I read her newsletter article today.

Nostalgia strikes a note

Sometimes in life, nostalgia pushes a button and you find yourself looking back into the years gone by. How wonderful it is to have the memory of so many pleasant happenings in our life. Even the unpleasant memories bring back the longing for the yesteryears at times.

Today, a bunch of friends had been emailing about what we drink – ice water, tea (sometimes how, sometimes iced teas), and coffee. One friend I have the pleasure of knowing is a writer, although unpublished. I have the pleasure of being able to present some of her work on my web site. She got wound up in nostalgia today and sent us the link to one of her stories, Invitation to a Tea Party. As I reread this story, it brought back so many memories of when I was a child. There were not many girls around near enough for me to play with when I was young. But I still had my ‘tea parties’, if only with my dolls. I loved to set up my table on the front porch and enjoy my teatime. And, like Ruth, the author of the above story, our porch was also covered on one end with a beautiful, climbing wisteria bush that my Daddy’s mother planted there when the house was built. That wisteria bush is still living, although it has since been moved to the side of the house, since the front porch was taken in for another bedroom in later years.

Other memories are of the many nights my younger brother and I joined a cousin and a friend under one of the street lights on our road. We lived in a small country town, and, at the time, the roads were not paved. We would join each other for a round of marbles. Now, I was a tomboy in that respect! I loved to shoot marbles and I was good at it. We often played under a neighbor’s light or perhaps at my grandparents out the street. And, being kids, we played until we were made to come in the house.

I was also a tomboy when it came to playing basketball! We had a goal in our yard where we spent countless hours shooting at that hoop. Often times, I had rather play basketball than go eat! Many times Mother would have to tell this one young person they had to go home so I could come in for supper.

I am old enough to remember when our town got phones in our homes. I also remember sitting on the bank (which, at the time, seemed so much higher than it does now) in my parents front yard, watching the paving crew pave our road. The smell of the hot tar was terrible, but the pavement was a joy for those of us who loved to ride bikes. But, it was not so good when, during the summertime, the sun made the tar all soft, and it got between our toes and on our feet. Having to try and get it off was no easy chore.

Has nostalgia rose up within you lately?
