A look at Obama

I haven’t written much about the presidential candidates here on the blog. But, after listening to parts of a replay of the meeting at Rick Warren’s Saddleback church yesterday, I decided it was time to take a look at Obama.

Some of his answers really bothered me. But none were as scary as his answer to an abortion query by Rick Warren.

Asked at what point a baby gets “human rights,” Obama, who strongly supports abortion rights, said: “… whether you’re looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity … is above my pay grade.”
He always sidesteps questions he doesn’t want to answer. This time around, he had no teleprompter to tell him what the answer should be since they didn’t have the questions beforehand.

When I did a little reading, I found out something else about Obama. When he was a state legislator in Illinois, he voted against a bill that would legally protect premature infants who were born alive.
Average Americans, many of whom hold complicated views on the issue of abortion, may wonder why such a bill would even be necessary in the first place. Once a child is born, she becomes an independent human being who's entitled to the same rights and legal protections afforded to all citizens, right? Wrong, said State Senator Obama. Earlier this decade, the Born Alive Infant Protection Act was introduced in the Illinois state legislature after a Chicago area nurse named Jill Stanek blew the whistle on a practice she personally witnessed at her hospital. Babies who managed to survive late term abortions were being abandoned in soiled linen closets and left to die.
Obama is trying to get the evangelical voters on his side. But, to me, it doesn’t matter how much he tries to peddle his Christianity in the campaign. He is still not in tune with the Word.
Luke 18:20, "Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother."
To me, abortion is killing of a viable human being, a baby whose breath comes from God. A baby in the womb is alive and nourished by the mother. And when you decide to terminate that child, you are committing murder.
