The Love of God

Most of us do no stop to think that God is in our every day lives. We don't seem to 'see' him at work or even that, in the least things, God can be found. I've come to realize we've missed special moments with God in not keeping our minds tuned on him.

Last night, we attended a music get-together. A Christian band was the one to close out the show for the night. They sang some great songs and were very good! But what caught my heart was the fact that one of the singers went down to get three little children, two boys and a girl. One of the boys was a child with down's syndrome. I assumed the head of the band was the boy's father since he told the story about getting him ready for bed and his son talking about 'his love'. It pertained to a song they had been learning and this little boy picked up on the love of God.

The thing that struck me and brought tears to my eyes was the love that was shown to this little boy by the girl (lead singer) who had brought him on stage. She would kneel beside him, prompting him to sing what he could. She would touch him sweetly to get him to sing. She never seemed to tire of giving him and the other two children her attention, constantly on her knees are singing at their ears. You could just see the love of God in her!

Matthew 22:39 tells us to 'Thy shalt love thy neighbor as thyself'. And I have never seen a sweeter demonstration of love than this girl showed that little boy.

The Love of God

Romans 5:5, "And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us."

Romans 8:39, "Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

2 Thessalonians 3:5, "And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ."

The Days of Elijah

These are the days of Elijah
Declaring the Word of the Lord, yes
And these are the days of his servant, Moses
Righteousness being restored
And these are the days of great trial
Of famine and darkness and sword
So we are the voice in the desert crying
Prepare ye the way of the Lord

CHORUS:
Behold he comes
Riding on a cloud
Shining like the sun
At the trumpet's call
Lift your voice
It's the year of jubilee
And out of Zion's hill salvation comes

And these are the days of Ezekiel
With dry bones becoming as flesh
And these are the days of his servant, David
Building the temple of praise, yes
And these are the days of the harvest
The fields are all white in the world
And we are the laborers that are in your vineyard
declaring the word of the Lord

CHORUS 2X
Behold he comes
Riding on a cloud
Shining like the sun
At the trumpet's call
Lift your voice
It's the year of jubilee
And out of Zion's hill salvation comes

There's no God like Jehovah (x8--modulate)
There's no God like Jehovah (x8--modulate)
There's no God like Jehovah (x7)

God on the mountain

God never changes. Word says He is the same 'yesterday, and today, and forever'. (Hebrews 13:8). No matter what happens, He is always there. We often feel that He is no where to be found when we really need Him, but do we actually go to Him when we need Him, or do we rely on ourselves to try and 'fix' things first? God will show up every time you invite Him! If you are a Christian, He is with you every minute, but he's a gentleman. He will not impose himself upon you, if you don't want him. Learn to go to Him first, ask for his guidance in your life daily; He is waiting on you!

Dottie Rambo - Sheltered In The Arms of God

I heard the news about the death of Dottie Rambo yesterday. The Gospel singing industry has surely lost a wonderful singer and one whom you knew loved the Lord. She had just sang in Granite City, which would turn out to be her last appearance.

Calvary Life Pastor Mark Maynard described her death as “a huge loss for the gospel music world,” saying the concert “was a wonderful night of laughter and tears.”

Singing the following song, Dottie talks about the friendship between her and Porter Wagoner who preceded her in death.

Country legend Eddy Arnold dies

Photo from CMT

Eddy Arnold was one of my favorite country singers. And, he left this world today at the age of 89, just days short of his May 15th birthday.

His song, Make the World Go Away, was one of my favorites of all his songs. I don't know of a song he recorded that we didn't like, though.

I had the opportunity to see Eddy Arnold at the Birmingham Auditorium back in the late 70's. He was on the ticket with Floyd Cramer, and Boots Randolph (Yakety Sax). Floyd Cramer passed away in 1997 at the young age of 64. Boots Randolph passed away in 2007 at the age of 80.

The night of the concert, everyone was excited. They were flashing their cameras all over the auditorium, and some right in front of the stage. I think it sort of got to Eddy Arnold, and he stopped singing and asked everyone with a camera who wanted a picture to come up front and he'd let them take one picture. Then, he didn't want to see the flash anymore. Lots of people went up front, and to the surprise of all of us, he told them to get ready, and then turned his back to them. I'm sure it upset lots of fans. I vowed never to go see him again, but it didn't stop me from loving to hear him sing.

He lived in Brentwood, TN, right next to Nashville. We lived there for 5 years in the 1990's, knew where he lived, but never saw him out. He will be missed!

Chris Tomlin - Amazing Grace/My Chains are Gone

  • Romans 8:21, "Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God."
  • Galatians 5:1, "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."

The Cactus Cuties Singing National Anthem

A friend sent this video to me of the young girls singing. It amazes me the voices they have and they are so young. I believe patriotism is still alive in America!

It Is Well With My Soul

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blessed assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Faith by Paula Scaletta

- Words by Horatio G. Spafford, 1873
- Music by Philip P. Bliss, 1876

The words to this hymn was written after two major traumas in Spafford's life. The first was the Great Chicago Fire of October 1871, which ruined him financially. Shortly after, while crossing the Atlantic, all four of Spafford's daughters died in a collision with another ship. Spafford's wife Anna survived and sent him the now famous telegram: "SAVED ALONE." Several weeks later, as Spafford's own ship passed near the spot where his daughters died, he was inspired to write these words.

Bliss originally named the tune "Ville de Havre" after the ship on which Spafford's four girls perished, the SS Ville de Havre. Ironically, Bliss himself died in a tragic train wreck shortly after writing this music.

Where He Leads Me, I Will Follow

We buried our oldest person in our neighborhood Wednesday. He had lived a long life of 93 years. He was a person who always thought about his neighbors. Until he was unable to garden, he was continually growing vegetables and giving them away to his neighbors. He not only gave them away, but he would come to our door, laden down with cantaloupes or other vegetables. I have known this man for 43 years and have never heard one unkind word uttered about him.

After his death, the song, 'Where He Leads Me, I will Follow' came to my mind. I thought it would be a great tribute to a wonderful man, who was loved by his family and his friends.

Where He Leads Me, I Will Follow

I can hear my Saviour calling,
I can hear my Saviour calling,
I can hear my Saviour calling,
"Take thy cross and follow, follow me".

Chorus:
Where He leads me I will follow -
I'll go with Him, with Him all the way.

I'll go with Him thru the garden,
I'll go with Him thru the garden,
I'll go with Him thru the garden,
I'll go with Him, with Him all the way.

Chorus:
Where He leads me I will follow -
I'll go with Him, with Him all the way.

I'll go with Him thru the judgment,
I'll go with Him thru the judgment,
I'll go with Him thru the judgment,
I'll go with Him, with Him all the way.

Chorus:
Where He leads me I will follow -
I'll go with Him, with Him all the way.

He will give me grace and glory,
He will give me grace and glory,
He will give me grace and glory,
And go with me, with me all the way.

Chorus:
Where He leads me I will follow -
I'll go with Him, with Him all the way.

Nine Russian sisters sing the gospel

The Avtonomov sisters' parents accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior in 1978 in a church in Russia. They raised their 9 daughters, ages 17-31, in a Christian home, which had an influence in their lives. They all became Christians.

All the girls attended the same children's school of arts. They learned to play several instruments, including the piano, violin, and accordion. They now travel with their parents to over 60 cities, singing at churches, revivals services, and special events. They now have 2 albums out in the Russian languages.

Their mission while traveling through out Russia and the Ukraine is to glorify the Lord through their singing ministry and to reach out to the unsaved through the lyrics of their songs.
Their sister Sveta has written more songs and they are ready to record their third album. But the only problem is their family does not have the money for the recording fees. They are looking for a sponser. They are asking for prayer for the family and for a Christian sponsor who loves music to help them continue recording the gospel on album through their singing.

You can hear samples of their music at their website.
