Thursday Thirteen #8

Thirteen Things on my side-by-side refrigerator doors

This refrigerator has been in my house since we built it 30 years ago. It is a gold side-by-side Frigidaire, and has been used for a bulletin board all these years. First, it was for my kids, and now it is for our grandchildren. It may look messy to some, but to us, there are memories being made. I didn't have time to make pictures, so you will have to use your imagination.

  1. Fuzzy dog face made by my daughter when she was in Kindergarten. And, she’s now 35!
  2. Small upright piano that plays music, given to me by my sister-in-law
  3. Mr. Fix-It wind chimes magnet, given to my husband by his sister, because he is constantly fixing something for her.
  4. 2 butterflies – one crocheted by my mother, and the other one is cloth that she bought from a lady and gave it to me.
  5. A golden angel magnet given to me by my mother.
  6. Magnet map of Australia sent to my by a special Internet friend
  7. Pell City Panthers paw magnet, representing the PC Panthers football team, for which my oldest grandson plays.
  8. Minature fly swat with fly attached, made and given to me by a sweet woman with whom we used to sing, and she is now deceased
  9. A 4th generation picture of my Mother, me, my daughter, and her daughter, when my granddaughter was 2. She is now 16, and a JR in high school.
  10. An apple magnet from The Apple Barn in Pigeon Forge, TN
  11. An artistic drawing made for me by my granddaughter. She does them occasionally for her papa and me, and throws away the old ones.
  12. A colorful magnet that says “God couldn’t be everywhere, so he made Grandmas.”
  13. 2 Bandaid magnets advertising the clinic where my daughter has worked for over 16 years.

Fun list! Sounds like my fridge! Well, except I've only had it for 6 years, but still it's full of much of the same... sentimental gifts and memories!

I can imagine what the fridge looks like! We had a green one when I was growing up and it was all the rage to have a double door!
Friges are for posting, ours is always hidden by magnets, drawings, school menu's and other important stuff! I am also filing this away for a future 13!

No refrigerator is complete without tons of magnets and art work! :)

I like a clean looking fridge myself despite the fact that mine looks like yours!~ LOL Saving all the kids artwork has always been a conundrum for me. I eventually tossed most of it but kept some special pieces.

Thanks for visiting! Glad you liked the 70's flashback.

What great memories! I don't have that many but the bottom is covered with ABC magnets and pictures my son brings home from preschool. The top has my daughter's chore calendar, the calendar from her school and the aerobic class schedule from the Y.

Love the list. It sounds like my fridge before we got the new Stainless on. However, my husband taped a cartoon to speaks to the sanity of people who live in their house while doing renovations. Particularly on point when you conisder that a 6 foot section of my kitchen wall was open tothe outdoors yesterday as he replaced some termite invested joists and window frames. Next step: brand new cabinets and countertops. Yea!

What a great T13 - I may have to swipe this idea for a future one. Your refrigerator sounds just like ours - sort of a patchwork of our lives, memories of people and places. My mom never let us hang one single thing on her fridge, and mine is full of pictures, magnets from places we've traveled, Christmas photos, clippings from the newspaper, and more old pictures :) Love it!

Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by my T13 earlier :)

What a great idea for a T13. I have a fly swatter, and there's a permanent fly attached, or a mosquito.. and they are real lol.

Thnx for sharing your fridge stuff :=)

Great idea for a list! My refrigerator door is bare right now, and I was just thinking the other day that I need some magnets or something!

Boy, I think you should approach Fridgidaire witha pitch for a commercial, that would be incredible with you near the friedge talking about it. I am so impressed you have art from one of your daughters still on the friedge...sometimes time can stand still, no? What a terrific set of memories you have there...and I agree with others, that piano sounds awesome, and the fly swat is hilarious.

Cheers,
Candy

That's an archive! The new models seem to have plastic finishes and don't hold magnets. What will women do! How will they know who they are?

Where's the photo? I really want to see this fridge. The upright piano has me intrigued. And I'm a sucker for fine art - most especially art from fine kiddos.

Photos! Must have photos!
