Tony Snow resigns from Bush Administration

Aug. 31 (Bloomberg) -- White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, who is battling cancer, announced his resignation today, 16 months before the end of the Bush presidency. He'll be replaced by deputy press secretary Dana Perino.

``I sadly accept his desire to leave the White House,'' President George W. Bush told reporters today. ``He'll battle cancer and win.''

I have certainly enjoyed seeing Tony Snow as White House Press Secretary. He is a very respected speaker and journalist. I would have liked to have seen him stay with the Administration for the duration, but I understand why he is leaving now. We must make decisions for ourselves, not for others. Only Tony Snow knows what is good for him and his family. We do wish him well in all his endeavors, and pray that he overcomes the cancer.
