Despite Severe Persecution, Nepal's Christian Church Growing Rapidly

Christians in Nepal are growing, despite the opposition of Hindu leaders and government authorities. Right now, Christians only make up less than 1% of the population.

There are house churches being held in rooms no bigger than 7 X 10 foot room, with as many as 26 people within.
These house churches are illegal in Nepal, as in other places, but it is not stopping these people. There are many more house churches just like the one described above.

The Christian Freedom International, chaired by Nat Moffat, is an organization that distributes food, Bibles, medicine, and legal assistance to Nepal Christians.

In a way, what is happening in Nepal is "a good news-bad news situation for Christians," Moffat observes. "Yes, they are being persecuted terribly," he says, "but the community of believers is growing fast."
