One Man makes a difference
Bert Brady, a 69 year old Army Veteran, spends most mornings going to the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport to welcome home troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. He is one of about 50 members of a program called 'Welcome Home a Hero' run by the USO, in conjunction with the airport.
Brady makes about 300 trips a year to the airport. He says he did it once and it was so fulfilling, he decided to do it again. That started in December 2005 and he's still going. He says he thinks it's important to welcome the soldiers home. The Vietnam soldiers didn't get a welcome home, and he feels that is an embarrassment to our country. Brady says he is often joined by both Vietnam and Korean veterans that didn't get a welcome home, either.
