And If I Die - Book Review

And If I Die
The Black and White Chronicles Book Three
Author: John Aubrey Anderson
Publisher: Faith Words

In the year of 1968, the story finds Mose Mann (Washington) and his ‘grandson’, Bill Mann, hiding out in Pilot Hill, Texas. They live only 15 miles from Missy Parker, his ‘almost daughter’, and her husband. Only a handful of people know where Mose and Bill have gone.

Bill has yet to decide he needs God in his life. And, he has taken up a very dangerous sport, bull riding in the rodeo. He also has taken to driving his car very fast. Nothing seems to bother this young man. His ‘grandfather’ has spent his last years trying to bring up Bill in the way his Mother would have had him do, since she left him in the care of Mose the night she was killed. Bill thinks God is not the God he wants to know because he let his Mother die. He doesn’t realize that angels are watching out for him and the prayers of the people who care are the main reason this young man is still alive.

Two times in his life, A. J. Mason was told to ‘be ready’ by a spirit voice. The first was in 1945 and the second time was in 1960 when he saved the life of Missy Parker. The forces of evil seem to be after Missy Parker to end her life. And, up until 1968, Missy had escaped from being drawn into the their line of fire.

Bill Mann, while waiting to go into the service, chose to take up bull riding. This would prove to be a very dangerous hobby. And, it would almost end his life. But, again, angels were watching after him. And, all his friends were praying.

Missy Parker hears that voice of the spirit telling her to ‘be ready’. She doesn’t understand why God would single her out to be the one. But, she and her husband armed themselves with guns around their home and on their person. She was going to be ready for whatever came her way. And, knowing that she was going to protect Mose and his ‘grandson’ Bill, she took that warning very seriously.

Death plays a big part in this book along with warfare against the evils that came their way. As I read the last chapter, I was already wishing there were a sequel to these books! These have been some of the best books I have ever read. If you like fiction touching on Christianity and warfare, you will enjoy these three books.

Wedgewood Grey - Book Review

Wedgewood Grey
The Black or White Chronicles – Book Two
Author: John Aubrey Anderson
Publisher: Warner Faith, NY
ISBN: 10-D-446-57950-5

Wedgewood Grey begins with yet another tragedy at the lake at Cat Bridge. And, in the aftermath, Mose Washington, Missy Parker’s close friend is forced to leave. But, he isn’t leaving by himself. Before she died, one of the victims made him promise that he would look after her son like his on. He is driven from his lifelong home because of the fear of a black man being killed because of the death of white men. Thus, he began a long journey and became a fugitive from justice.

Then comes the FBI to investigate. A man named Jeff Wagner is one of those FBI investigators. He isn’t a Christian and knows absolutely nothing about demons. And, it takes lots of selling on the part of the people to make him understand what is really going on. And, until a near-death experience with those same demons, he has no interest in knowing God or believing there are such things as demons. But, the exchange of a silver dollar from the hand of another former unbeliever to his will soon make a difference.

The FBI is out to find Mose and the little boy. They have gone north from Mississippi and assumed new lives. They have contacts that keep them in touch with those they hold dear. But, unbeknown to them, they are being hunted by Jeff Wagner and others, not to be put on trial, but to be kept safe from harm. As the story unfolds, the little boy, Bill Mann, and his ‘Poppa’ Mose Mann (Washington) grow close, but Bill hasn’t become a Christian. He believes in God but cannot understand why God would let his Mother die. Jeff Wagner passes that silver dollar down to Bill after he graduates and says, “That will be a reminder that I’d give a dollar to hear you say you are going to be worth it”. (page 365)

The author, John Aubrey Anderson, grew up in Mississippi and graduated from Mississippi State. He recently retired from 28 years as a pilot for an airline. You can learn more about John at his web site.

Abiding Darkness - Book Review

Abiding Darkness
Black or White Chronicles Book One
Author: John Aubrey Anderson
Publisher: Warner Faith, NY
ISBN 0-446-57969-1

Abiding Darkness is a very captivating novel in which there is a pull between good and evil. Spiritual warfare seems to be the one key that keeps the people of the area alive.

The day that the young people were attacked in the lake off Cat Bridge would forever bind the people together. The two main families were very close, although it wasn't popular to be, considering they were black and white. And, that day at the lake was no different. The one thing that set it apart from all other days was the fact that the innocence of three children would forever be altered. One child was dead because he dared to mind his Daddy that had cautioned him to 'watch out for her…like a man’. Missy Parker was this young girl that trouble seemed to follow because she was so beautiful and had a mind of her own.

Lots of escapes were to happen in the life of Missy. She was not a Christian when the attack at Cat Bridge happened. But, later, she became an advocate of the Bible and God and vowed she would talk to others about the Lord. She mentored a young girl that brought a very unlikely man to his knees on that very same bridge.

Although this is a fiction novel, it is still strong in Christian beliefs. I strongly recommend this for reading. It will keep you captivated to the point you do not want to put it down for fear you may miss the next episode in the happenings at Cat Bridge!

A Vase of Mistaken Identity

A Vase of Mistaken Identity
Author: Cathy Elliott
Publisher: Kregel Publishers
Grand Rapids, MI
ISBN: 0-8254-2537-9

When I first started to read the novel, I could not figure out where the vase came into play. But, it didn’t take too much time to figure out that this vase had lots to do with the plot. Or, did it? At first, it was hard to get into the story because I was constantly trying to figure out where the vase came from and what was the significance of the vase that it would gain so much prominence in the title. But, as I read more of the story, it was hard to put the book down.

Thea, who seemed to be the main character in the story, dealt in antiques of every kind. She bought any and everything she thought she could sell. She obtained a very expensive vase from a homeless man. The vase had a list of 4 women’s names inside when Thea obtained it. She put the vase in her house, only to have it stolen, it seemed. But the vase held a mystery that took reading the entire book to find out – there was no skimming the pages to find out the true mystery! You are held captive by a murder, a friend in a coma, one missing, and Thea herself. The past of four friends comes alive in a mystery that will certainly surprise you in the outcome. Reading this novel made one realize you never know who a true friend is or what their intentions are toward you. I have always been able to put two and two together and come up with the answer. But the true identity of the person responsible for the mysterious things that happened in this novel surprised even me!

Cathy Elliott, the author, works at a Community College in southern California. Cathy is also an antique collector, among other interests. This is the first novel I have read of hers, but I would love to read more. She certainly holds your interest.

The book was sent to me by Cathy Elliott for review. I highly recommend it for reading to anyone who loves a great mystery!

Tell Me About Heaven

Tell Me About Heaven – Book Review
Author: Randy Alcorn
Paintings by Ron DiCianni
Publisher – Crossway Books, Wheaton, IL.
ISDN: 978-1-58134-853-8

”Heaven is not about not knowing, and not about remembering. It’s about seeing things through God’s eyes and experiencing His joy.” Pg. 44

Reading through Tell Me About Heaven gives even the youngest child a clear picture of what Heaven will be like. The story is between a grandfather and his grandson, Jake, who has always come to visit his grandparents for two weeks every summer. But, this summer is different. Papa is alone, having lost Grammy awhile back.

Papa always talks to the boy in terms from the Word. He finds ways to bring up scripture in each and every thing they do together, whether it be star gazing, going to the zoo, or fishing.
”We’ll never run out of time. We’ll all be part of a great story going on forever. Like C.S. Lewis said, every chapter will be better than the one before.” Pg 56

This is a short book that I read in one afternoon. It is a great book for a youngster or even an adult. Heaven is made real through the eyes of Papa. He talks about Grammy going on before and how she’s still alive, just ‘behind the door’ where you can’t see her right now. But, one day we will all join her and be together forever. Jake seems to understand this concept of Heaven.

Randy Alcorn was a pastor before founding Eternal Perspectives Ministries. He is the author of more than 25 non-fiction books. He and his wife, Nanci, live in Orgeon near their grandsons.

I highly recommend this book for children and adults. I give it a 5 out of 5 points. This book was sent to me free for review by Crossway Books.

My Vow of Silence - Book Review

My Vow of Silence - the roughest 3 minutes of my life
Author: Tim Steed
Publisher: Xyzzy Press
ISDN 1-60148-000-8

This book kept me in stitches as I read chapter after chapter. As Tim stated, this book is written to show us how to laugh at our imperfections as Christians. And, laugh I have!

Greater love has no one than this; that a person lay down her MoonPies for her friends. Pg 87
One chapter in particular stood out for me on Tip Jars. Most of us have come across tip jars in restaurants, the post office – you name the business and most of them have had a tip jar for some reason or another. But, Tim’s tip jar says it all!
But today, businesses take your money and give you nothing in exchange. Like coffee shops, they’re great at getting something for nothing. From big chains to the little mom-and-pop stores, coffee shops are notorious for putting out a tip jar next to the cash register.

Or what if the person who does your taxes put out a tip jar? What if your mail carrier put out a tip jar? What if the school crossing guard put out a tip jar?

Tim says that the difference in the coffee shops and God is the fact God always gives you everything back.

From back to front, you will find yourself laughing at little anecdotes that the author combines with something from scripture. I believe God has a sense of humor and meant for we Christians to have a sense of humor as well. And, this book is a great example of Christian humor at its’ best.

Tim Steed lives with his wife and daughter in Brentwood, Tennessee. He is a speaker and inspirational humorist, combining his business leadership and entertainment background to offer spiritual guidance and encouragement to people of all ages.

I was sent a free copy of this book by the author for review. I give this book a five out of five.

Preaching The Cross - Book Review

Preaching The Cross
Authors: Mark Dever, J. Ligon Duncan III, H. Albert Mohler JR., C. J. Mahaney
Publisher: Crossway Books
Publishing Ministry of Good News Publishers
Wheaton, Illinois
ISBN 13 978-1-58134-828-5

We should expect our pastors/ministers to preach the Word without deviating from the Truth God has set forth within his written Word. Within
Preaching The Cross, you will find the message that God’s Word created His people, according to Genesis 1. And, ministers, who are ‘God’s employees’, are called to deliver God’s Word without adding or subtracting from it.

A Christian minister should not be evaluated according to how they speak but how he delivers the Word

  • Instruments pointing to Christ
  • Has cross in the center of his message
  • Delivery of message is the center of his call to the ministry
Throughout Preaching The Cross, it is shown that a minister should preach the Word, and not look for praise from the world. We all have a double citizenship – one in this world, which is not rewarding, and that of the coming King – the eternal citizenship for which every Christian longs.

Mahaney goes on to admonish a pastor/minister to watch his life and his doctrine. One should always be reading and studying the Word. But, one should always be practicing the Word. Obedience to the Word is what really counts. The practice of truth is found in

  • Faith
  • Love
  • Humility
  • Forgiveness
  • Hope
Mahaney goes on to say one can never let up on obedience to the Word. Doesn’t matter how close you may feel to God, Satan never lets up on his pursuit against God and the Word. He will continue to attack you until death.

”The preacher’s commission,” writes J. I. Packet, “is to declare the whole counsel of God; but the cross is the center of that counsel, and the Puritans knew that the traveler through the Bible landscape misses his way as soon as he loses sight of the hill called Calvary.”

There are also contributions by John MacArthur, John Piper, and R.C. Sproul. John MacArthur says he has continued to preach the Word after 40 years of ministry. He said his goal has been to be faithful for the glory of God and that should be the goal of every minister for God.

This is a great book for any pastor, but also good information for a lay person. I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars.

I am a member of Active Christian Media as a reviewer. I have been given this book free for the purpose of reviewing.

Does God Still Do Miracles?

Book Review
Does God Still Do Miracles? - An M.D. Examines
Author: Dr. Brad Burke
Publisher: Cook Communications Ministries
Colorado Springs, Colorado
ISBN:
0781442826

G. Subramanian, MD, Ph.D, and his colleagues state this in the Journal of the Ameican Medical Association: 'The most common human diseases culminate from long-standing interactions between many genes and enviromental factors (including lifestyle).' You can look at most diseases in this light: our genes load the gun: our negative emotions and environment load the gun and pull the trigger. pg 83

I began reading this book with the preconceived notion that Dr. Burke did not believe in miracles. But, I soon learned otherwise. But, he discusses in this book the differences in miracles and healings or 'unexplained healings' - something we layman may call a miracle.

Perhaps in this statement (our genes load the gun: our negative emotions and environment load the gun and pull the trigger), we learn that perhaps our body plays more of a part in 'if we are healed' than we really thought.

The vast majority of Americans believe that God uses doctors as his prime instrument of healing. pg 110
We know doctors play a big part in the health of our bodies. Most doctors are Christians and do pray before surgery for the wisdom of God to guide their hands and help them make the right decisions in any situation. When we turn our body over to a doctor we are expecting him to give us the best care possible. And, if a healing arises from that care, then most perceive he is God's instrument for that healing. But, sometimes, a healing is unexplained, even by a doctor.

God heals some and others may not get healed, and nobody knows the reason. Miracles are still performed today, but they seem to be far between. In fact, as this book relates, it is hard to find a true miracle today.

Through out the book, we are encouraged to pray for healing. We may not receive a miracle or even a healing, but we can confidently trust that He will do what is best for us.

When Dr. Gordon D. Fee, an ordained minister of the Assemblies of God, was asked, "Why pray?", his answer, in part, was "No healing has ever been deserved; it is always a gift of God's grace.....Healing, therefore, is not a divine obligation; it is a divine gift."pg 115

"No healing has ever been deserved; it is always a gift of God's grace"

The author, Brad Burke, MD, started writing in medical school. He did his residency at UCLA, and then took a 5 year sabbatical to write the series, "An M.D. Examines". He and his wife, Erin, currently reside in the Windsor/Detroit area, where he practices as a physiatrist.

My name is Barbara, a wife, mother, and grandmother from Alabama. I review books for Active Christian Media. I give the book 4.5 stars out of 5.

The Minor Protection Act

Book Review
The Minor Protection Act
Author: Jodi Cowles
Genre: Fiction
Publisher: Musterion Press
Division of VMI Publishers
Sisters, Oregon

“For some reason Jack felt he had no choice but to answer this man with the laser beam eyes. After a few false starts and throat clearing he softly began. The first words came out slowly, but suddenly he felt if he didn’t bear his soul now he would die. “I was wrong, what I did. I was all wrong.” Pg 176
Although The Minor Protection Act was written as a fiction novel and set in a future presidency, it could be something that might happen in our lifetime, given the blows Christianity has taken in the past. Jack argued a case in court that he thought dealt with matters that were tearing the country apart, causing violence and the rise of teen suicide, and teens to be violent toward themselves and others. The case was won, putting a young man in prison for his part supposedly in the ‘suicide’ of a young teenager.

With this win, Jack was summoned to see President Farmer, who, from my observation, had a problem with Christians raising their children to fear God. He felt that parents should be held accountable for their actions. So, with this, The Minor Protection Act was passed, but Jack soon came to realize the President did not have in mind what he had, when he agreed to it.

When children began to be taken from good families, people began to worry. One couple took it into their hands to do what they could to get Christian families with children out of the country before their families met the fate of being separated for years. They knew these children, especially the younger ones, would be indoctrinated with views against religion and God, in general. In other words, the government was saying these parents were raising terrorists, simply because they raised their children to obey the Word of God. So, if they shared it with other teens, then they were considered terrorists.

As the story continues, things begin to unravel, as Jack and others set out to prove the President had an agenda in passing this act. People begin to get fired, a death ensues because of lies, and the President’s future is in shambles, as is the future of The Minor Protection Act.

The author, Jodi Cowles, resides in Boise, Idaho. She has traveled in more than 30 countries. This is her first novel. And, I give it 5 points for believability! She hooked me!

My name is Barbara Sanders, wife, mother, and grandmother from Alabama. I review books for Active Christian Media.

The Train-of-Thought Writing Method

Book Review
The Train of Thought Writing Method
Author: Kathi Macias
Publisher: AuthorHouse
Bloomington, Indiana

Ánd that’s how you create three-dimensional characters who will make your train’s observation car the highlight of your journey, and also diminish your chances of hearing your readers whine, “Are we there yet?” pg 69
I love trains! The one train ride I remember most was a trip from Atlanta, Georgia, back to my hometown, on Christmas night, of all nights, during a heavy rain.

And, so this book with the subject of trains for a writing method really intrigued me. The author takes you from ‘laying the track’ for the book, to the ‘cow catcher’. She explains this as the way a writer hooks the reader for the rest of the story. If the story doesn’t have a good start, then the reader will not want to go any farther.

From the ‘cow catcher’, to the locomotive, through the boxcars, she leads you into the ‘couplers’. We know that, with a real train, the couplers join the cars to one another. Without them, the train would not be complete. So, in writing, the ‘couplers’ are the parts of the story that join different parts together, and they keep the reader interested in what is going to happen next.

Next, comes the observation car. If you’ve ever been to Look Out Mountain, you know they have an observation center where you can look through a telescope and see other states. You ‘observe’ what is going on around you. When you are reading, you want to be caught up in the story. You want to feel like you are there, that you can just know what is going to happen next.

But, the caboose is what is most important. Nobody wants to read a great story only to get to the end, and be let down. A good story can be ruined by ending abruptly, not giving a satisfactory ending. One should always leave the reader with a sense of satisfaction. All stories must end, whether it is with a ‘living happily ever after’ ending or riding off into the sunset, as many westerns that I saw ended.

This is a great book for all prospective writers. Following the idea of the ‘train-of-thought’ writing method is a great way to keep your story on the right track.

The author, Kathi Macias, is a mother/grandmother from Homeland, CA. She is a former newspaper columnist and string reporter. She has authored or co-authored fifteen books.

My name is Barbara Sanders, a wife/mother/grandmother from Alabama. I review books for Active Christian Media. And, I give this book five stars. In fact, I will be reading it again, since I would love to write a book some day!

An Afternoon With Cody

Book Review
An Afternoon with Cody
Author: Rex Forrest Johnson
Publisher: Pine Hill Press
Sioux Falls, SD

"He had a lot to say. I was becoming a very interested listener." page 21

What started out to be an ordinary trip to get an interview for sports columnist Walter Withers turned out to be a life-changing event. His trip to Minneapolis was detoured to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, a long way from his destination. He was stranded in an unfamiliar airport, surrounded by lots of people, waiting to go on another interview closer to Sioux Falls. But this airport would gain him a friend and a new outlook on life.

During the 7 or more hours Withers was in the airport, he saw many passengers come and go. But, those 7 hours would change his life forever. Cody Brill was a very intelligent man who had been around a long time, experienced many things in life, including the life-changing experience that he was about to share with Withers. Withers had no clue as to why this guy was in the airport, nor that Cody actually knew the man to whom his employer had sent him to interview this time.

The author did a great job in bringing the reader into the airport along with these two men. You sense the atmosphere in the room, the attention Withers gives to Cody, and the excitement with which Cody explains every little detail. When the long talk is over, Cody has done his job in explaining spiritual things to Withers, and he is a completely changed man. His character has changed from secular ways to the way of loving and forgiving.

My name is Barbara Sanders, wife, mother and grandmother. I am a homemaker, who enjoys computing and reviewing books. This copy of 'An Afternoon with Cody' was given to me by Active Christian Media for review. I give the book 5 stars.

Simplified exclamations about God's will

Book Review
Simplifed exclamations about God’s will
Author: Jeffery Gante
Tate Publishing LLC
Mustang, OK

“God did give us free will. He gave us the free will to choose His will or our will.” Pg 15

We talk about free will as though it is permissible for us to do just anything we want and God will be okay with it. But, it doesn’t work that way. When we exercise our free will, we are outside His will for our lives.

As Gante states throughout his book, it is all about God. He gave each of us a purpose in this life. And, we should be listening attentively to hear what he has to say to us.

Gante talks about the permissive will and God’s written will. Adam and Eve were good examples of permissive will. God gave them permission for certain things (His will for their lives) in the Garden of Eden, but they used their free will to go against His direct commands.
God’s written will for our lives is plain, if we study the Word and listen to the Holy Spirit for His divine guidance.

“Simplified Exclamations” if only 63 pages long, but it is packed full of good information and scripture that can guide you to find your purpose in this life. It is a book easily read and easily understood.

Jeffrey Gante lives in PA with his wife, Alice, and their 2 children, Kyle and Kayla. He got his BA degree in Bible at Lancaster Bible College.

Before I Wake

Book Review: Before I Wake
Author: Dee Henderson
Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.
Carol Stream, Illinois
ISBN-10 1-4143-0815-9
Fiction-Romance

"She needed somewhere quiet to let the stress of the last years drain away, and it didn't get more anonymous than working for Bruce in a small town she'd struggled to find on the map." pg. 1

Rae Gabriella, who has experienced lots of different things in her life which have brought her pain (a failed romance, a bad experience as an FBI agent), decided it was time to distance herself from her former hometown. So, she decided to sell her home and move. But, she also decided to call her former boyfriend, Bruce, with whom she hadn't had much contact in years, but apparently still felt his pull on her life.

Bruce offers her a job, which means moving to an old town called Justice. Bruce also had sought refuge in this quiet, homey little town and made himself many friends. He had invited Rae to be a partner in his investigative business. But, was this all Bruce had on his mind?

"I rarely let first impressions of someone be my long-term opinion." She offered the bag of chocolates to share her best find of the day--the chocolates were near perfection. "You've heard news that has you worried?" page 110

This book has 381 pages packed full of expectation (would she or wouldn't she), excitement helped along by the town sheriff, Nathan Justice, of the Justice family who named the town, and suspense! The author leads you through the pages of this novel as though you were right on the scene of everything that happens. You feel like you are eavedropping on conversations, as you read and anticipate what is about to happen.

The book is also a great thriller. From the beginning of Rae's first case on the new job, I felt I knew the person responsible. The more I read, I thought perhaps someone else could also be involved. The author has a way of keeping you wondering, yet wanting to hurry to the end to see what really has gone on. You will be surprised, even at the end. It is a book I found hard to put down!

Dee Henderson is the author of fourteen best-selling novels. She is a life-long residence of Illinois.

My name is Barbara Sanders, and I am a homemaker with grown children and grandchildren. I am a book reviewer for Active Christian Media.

This book gets 5 stars.

Why Christians Don't Vote For Democrats

Book Review:
Why Christians Don’t Vote for Democrats
Author: Richard Miller
Xulon Press
ISDN 1-59781-747-3

”Secular Democrats who are prejudiced against Christians advocate, support, and vote into law various forms of religious discrimination harmful to Christian America. Not all Democrats, not all secular Democrats, are prejudiced against religion”. – page 18

Author Richard Miller has made a good case for why Christians should not vote for secular Democrats. As he said above, not all Democrats believe the same way, just as all Republicans, Independents, Libertarians, etc., do not think the same way. And, they do not all vote the same way. I would venture to say if you had ten of each in a room together, there would be divisions among them all, with some going across party lines.

Within 91 pages, the author has packed some great information regarding the reasons he believes Christians should not vote for Democrats. Each of us Christians should make it our priority to get the facts on all candidates who are running for office. I’ve often heard the expression ‘if they quack like a duck, they are a duck’ --- if they claim to be a Christian, they are a Christian (or whatever one claims to be). But, saying one is a Christian and adhering to Christian values are two entirely different things. Many candidates will offer themselves up as a ‘Christian candidate’, mostly to get votes from the naive Christians, when, in reality, they ‘go to church’, but do not live the Christian life or adhere to all the beliefs of scripture. I have to be fair; there are candidates on all sides who do this. So, it is very important that we all make use of all the information we can obtain to make the right choice when we go to vote.

”Political freedom of speech is the inalienable right of every citizen or group of citizens in a healthy democracy.” – page 37

The freedoms of Christians are quickly being denied. One of those that is being taken away is the right of a pastor/minister/layman to speak freely from the pulpit to the parishioners about the candidates. This is putting a muzzle on ‘freedom of speech’, which is our right, and the Democrats are behind the effort to stop all churches who are tax-exempt from expressing anything political from within the church.

Richard Miller has tried, throughout his book, to encourage and show us how to be good stewards of our citizenship. If we study each candidate, learn his or her beliefs and behaviors (not just what they say in front of a crowd), then we can make an intelligent decision of which the best candidate will be for the job for which he or she is running. If we fail to make ourselves completely aware of what each candidate is about, and still vote, then we are doing ourselves, and our fellow Christians a disservice. And, when and if the wrong candidate gets in office, and Christianity is pushed farther to the back burner, and we finally lose our ‘voice’, we only have our unpreparedness to blame.

I recommend this book for reading, although it may take several reads to get the full impact of what the author is saying. Thirteen chapters are packed full of information, some of which I wish could have been expounded upon. But, he gives you enough ‘ammunition’ to get you started on the right track of picking the most deserving candidate in the next election. I give the book 4 1/2 stars out of 5.

The Life of Teenagers "Ain't No Joke"

Book Review
Author: Keith G. Wright
Publisher - ANJ Books, Miami Shores, FL
ISBN 0-8778342-0-4

Keith was born in the South, and brought up by a single Mom, who taught him to dream big dreams and aspire to be the best he could be.

No Joke Teen Truth #501: Remarkable teenagers, first and foremost, build a trusting relationship with their parents. They trust their parent’s intentions and influence in their lives, recognizing that the biggest push to their ultimate success will come from their parents.” – page 102

A teenagers’ life is hard. But, with good role models, their life can be one of success, as they come from teenage hood to adulthood. Parents play the biggest part in a teenager’s life. And, they will view the world through the eyes of their parents.

Wright has written this book in order to help teenagers become all they can be, regardless of the situation from which they may come. He went from the role of the people in the home who have a big influence on a teenager, to the peers with whom a teenager hangs out, to the Internet's influence, and on to shaking up the world by preparing oneself through education to be the best person they can become.

Wright tries to show teenagers, through the valuable ‘Teen Truths’, that they need to make every minute count of their childhood, because they never will get a second chance at it. He challenges teenagers to be a better person every day. - guard your life, learn from every day experiences, avoid the pitfalls along the way, and go out and conquer the world. The world will, one day, belong to the youth of today. We need strong leaders, and teenagers can make that difference in the world tomorrow. Wright has done a remarkable job in this respect, with all the Truths he has presented in his book.

The Life of Teenagers "Ain't No Joke", author Keith G.Wright, was published by ANJ Books, Miami Shores, Florida.

I highly recommend this book and give it 5 stars, because Keith Wright has successfully given teenagers many challenges to insure they have a ‘courageous childhood in an unforgiving world’.

he talk like a white boy
Author - Joseph C. Phillips

‘He talk like a white boy’ was given to me by Running Press, through Active Christian Media, for a book review. This is one of the best and most interesting books I have read during my time of reviewing. And, it has been the hardest book of which to write a review.

The statement ‘he talk like a white boy’, the young girl made in his classroom that day stayed with me throughout the entire book. I was aquainted with him as an actor on The Cosby Show many years ago. We still watch reruns of that show to this day! And, I never saw him as ‘different’, although others did. He seemed to have been a very well-adjusted young man, well-spoken, and he has proven he is capable of doing most anything he sets his mind and heart to do. And, there, I think is where he makes his point about life and living.

He considers himself a conservative republican, and has had to take flack from those who think he should have been ‘more black’ than he is. I am sure this was their way of letting him know he was getting a little 'too white' in his talk, thinking, and ways of doing things to be 'one of them'. But,
