Two Arrested in U.S. Computer Worm Probe

Two young men, a Moroccan and a Turk, were arrested in their respective countries. They are believed to have been the ones who unleashed the worm Zotob. One wrote the code that stopped many U.S. businesses, and the other one paid him to do it. These two are suspected to be the ones that unleashed the Mytob worm that first appeared in February.

Those machines most vulnerable are ones running Windows 2000. A protective patch can be found on the Microsoft website, as well as instructions on how to clean an infected machine.

Zotob and its variations can attack a computer without needing to open any software, so some users would be infected without knowing it.
